Volunteer Levels

Volunteer Levels
A volunteer must be signed off at each level before advancing.
To be signed off, the volunteer must demonstrate mastery of that skill.

Level 1
Groomer
(grooming is a vital piece of keeping the Strides horses healthy; learn the Strides way to keeping our horses clean)

Level 2
Horse wrangler
(learn how to catch, halter, and lead a horse -- the Strides way)

Level 3
Horse leader
(Adaptive Riding & Hippotherapy)
(learn advance horse leading skills to maximize the benefits to the client & improve your relationship with the horse)

Level 4
Horse exerciser
(for those already on this team, learn how to complete ground work, joining up, review exercise program.  for newbies, demonstrate your riding skills to be approved as a member of this elite team)

Click on "My Status" in upper right corner.

Other Areas of Skill
Pen Cleaning
(learn the dirty details on how to properly clean the horse pens to help keep our 4-legged friends healthy)

Horse Feeding
(a very important job in deed!  Our 4-legged friends need breakfast & dinner [and sometimes a few snacks].  Come learn all the details about how we feed.)

Facilities
(Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was Strides.  Facilities Team Leader Bob needs to build a crew to help him complete the long "Honey-Do" list the Strides Admin has given him in order to make Strides the best it can be for our community.)

Fundraising
(this is a crucial piece of the puzzle.  without donations & fundraising, Strides cannot run.  Team Leader Tori needs a big crew, too, to complete her list.  Love Strides's mission, but intimidated by horses?  fundraising may be just for you!)

Individuals achieving Champion status become eligible to receive Champion benefits include the opportunity for scholarship to further their academic and riding education.  Volunteer for a minimum of 24 volunteer hours from January 1st to December 31st and log in the hours. Skill Check Lists

Compliance Skill Check Lists!

In our quest to become a PATH International Premier Accredited Therapeutic Riding Center, we are stepping up our game in the volunteer compliance department.  For the past 18 months the Strides trainers have been working hard on teaching our volunteers what they need to know to make them excellent at what they do, but Strides did not keep a paper trail of this.  To demonstrate what skills any given volunteer has, our trainers will now be filling out compliance check lists (forms) to show that our volunteers are masters in the area that they are volunteering; this will improve the safety of our horses, clients, and volunteers.  Please touch base with your trainer to make sure your check list is completed in each area that you assist with.

Trainers:

  • Melissa (L1, L2, L3, L4a, L4b, AM / PM feed, Pen cleaning)

  •  Keely (L1, L2, L3, L4a, L4b, AM / PM feed, Pen cleaning)

  • Jill (L1, L2, L3, L4a, L4b, AM / PM feed, Pen cleaning)

  • Ethan (L1, L2, AM / PM feed, Pen cleaning)

  • Christina (L1, L2, AM / PM feed, Pen cleaning)

  • Sarah (L1, L2, AM / PM feed, Pen cleaning)

  • Garret (AM / PM feed, Pen cleaning)

Examples of Compliance Forms can be viewed below; click on the image in the gallery.  All are subject to be modified / changed as needed to maintain compliance with both PATH Intl & Strides standards.  Continue to check back for new skill check lists.  Note: you can retake a training class (found above) when offered if you feel like you need brushing up on skills.  You can also check in with out trainers to go over some skills before being checked off if you are unsure of them.
